Supported by Internews Malaysia and UNESCO, the IEAs looked at how three communities – Orang Asal in Sabah (Melangkap and Pitas), Orang Asal in Sarawak (Kg Lebor and Nanga Bekatan) and nationwide youths – could be their own voices of change, through community media.

For these three IEAs, we engaged community representatives to work with the communities, and supported them in carrying out physical and online surveys (with close to 400 people in total), focus group discussions, validation exercises and briefings over several months beginning in 2020.

We are currently in the process of planning for and carrying out needs-specific skills-building sessions and trainings, before moving forward with the execution of the community media projects next year.
